What is a Civil Litigation Case?

About A Civil Litigation

Have you ever been in a situation where you probably should have been involved in the justice system? The most common types of cases we see are civil litigation cases. These typically involve two parties who have a legal dispute with one another. Either two or all of the parties involved will be seeking some kind of monetary compensation for whatever action has been disputed.

As the name civil litigation points out, these cases attempt to solve civil matters. This can include marriages, property, or contract disputes; however, several other civil disputes can be classified under a civil litigation case.

One can reasonably assume that every civil case is different and unique to their situation. However, one thing is the same as the steps taken to take this case to court. First, you will meet with an attorney and discuss the details of your dispute, and they will help you determine whether or not the case should go through. As you move forward, your attorney will then go into an investigation where they thoroughly assess every single detail that you provide them with. Then there will be pleadings for each side to have the opportunity to tell their side of the story. Once this is done, the case will continue to a point where discovery takes place, determining what statements and witness reports to use. Now that both sides have completed their discovery process, the case will head to a pre-trial where each party, with the help of their attorney, comes to some sort of agreement on compensation or another settlement. If there is no agreement at the end of this, the case goes to trial, and they will stand in front of a judge.

This entire process is extensive and difficult to navigate, but that is why we are here.
